Dear Friends and Brethren,

Now that we have entered the 21st century, we should be on our knees in gratitude for the way the Lord has blessed us, individually and as a nation. We live in a nation of plenty where we can openly serve Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We don't deserve such prosperity, but God has graciously given it to us so that we may graciously give to others. We need to evaluate our opportunities, and make life better for our families and the oppressed. This is our opportunity as a family of believers to demonstrate the precious love of God

We have been given a wonderful opportunity as the church (the body of Christ) to reach out to the poor and the broken at this time in our history. If we can reach out to the most needy in our society, we would truly be reconciled. We must follow Christ's example in Luke 4:18, 19 (NIV) "The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

Members of the Worldwide Church of God, Newark, NJ find themselves at an historic crossroad. As we follow Jesus Christ, our opportunities for spreading the gospel and advancing the kingdom of God are extraordinary. Our church has a unique heritage of refusing to be daunted by adversity. Instead, we walk by faith, counting on God's power and faithfulness to fulfill His creative purpose in our lives. We rejoice in His Grace, Mercy and Love, and seek His strength to respond to His will for us.

May God Bless you as we all seek to make a difference for the Kingdom.
